allies and international partners against limited ballistic mis- sile threats. Allen is an outstanding example of the young and talented generation of professionals that will support the research, development, and acquisition agency within the Department of Defense for years to come. A Tuskegee University alumna, Allen joined the MDA in 2009 after earning a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.


Allen was also selected for the MDA Career Develop- ment Program, a two-year training period for entry-level career professionals in a workforce of government civilians, military service members, and contractor personnel. In each assignment,

Allen performed excellently. Her first specialty consisted of analyzing, evaluating, and providing guidance for leading edge research at universities and congressional interest projects. Next, she had birdwatcher responsibility with Terminal High Altitude Area Defense to ensure corrective action is taken for unforeseen problems experienced during production. In her final rotation, Allen maintained the development and management of pre- and post-test missions related to range and field operations as well as managing incident failure and anomaly. In the two years since she joined the MDA, Allen has im- pressed with her professionalism. She was extraordinarily helpful in training other career development participants who joined the following year, making sure that they understood what the job entailed and which products were expected. Allen has also represented the MDA’s career development program at the Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) Science, Technology, En- gineering and Mathematics (STEM) Conference and the NAACP Conference and conducted recruitment activities at the 2010 MDA Career Fair. She has taken part in two MDA K-12 educa- tional outreach activities, judged table displays and interviewed at BEST, a middle- and high-school robotics competition whose mission is to engage and excite students about engineering, sci- ence, and technology. She also coordinated student presentations at Future City competitions, one of several National Engineers
