a NASA mission similar to what we see on television. Cooley is also a full-time graduate student pursuing a Master of Sci- ence degree in Systems Engineering through the University of Florida. She will complete this degree in 2012, and plans to pursue an M.B.A. Alongside her work and study, she also takes part in college recruiting programs and is featured in a video depicting what it is like work for MDA in Huntsville, Ala.
The new government worker also represents the agency on a newly formed Diversity, Wellness and Morale Advisory Council and meets with leadership to bring workforce issues forward. Cooley remains active in Society of Women Engi- neers, the American Institute for Chemical Engineers, the American Chemical Society and NSBE—she is credited with starting the first chapter of the National Society of Black Engi- neers at Savannah State University. While there, Candace was also a tutor and mentor with the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) program. She also served as Program Coordinator of GEAR UP for two years.

ugene L. Beck- les plays games for a living. He
analysis, modeling, simulation and experimentation centers in the United Kingdom, Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, Ja- pan and Korea. The facilities were responsible for securing more than a $1 billion in international sales for Boeing’s defense, space and security organization. Over the past four years, Beckles has established five laboratories around the world; executed an international analysis environment; secured research and develop agreements with defense organizations in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East; and supported over $30 billion of Boeing’s international busi- ness plan. A 20-year employee with several technical and managerial positions under his belt, he manages customer relationships in countries across the globe. He represents Boeing at press conferences, trade and air shows, and serves on industry committees. Beckles’ Phantom Works group, a division of The Boeing Company, uses research with advanced modeling and simulation tools to visualize the impact of new concepts and technologies. Customers in turn use insights gained from experiments to establish or alter requirements, operations and processes. Boeing uses the results to support its marketing and sales strategy and provide guidance on technology development. Beckles earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical En- gineering from the University of Dayton, Ohio, and spent five years working at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. In 1983, he joined McDonnell Douglas, which merged with Boeing in 1997. Beckles holds an M.B.A. from the Keller Graduate School of Management and earned a certificate from the Harvard Business School of Executive Manage- ment Training with focus on global negotiations and stra- tegic planning. He is active in NSBE, Engineers Without Borders, the National Council of Systems Engineering, the University of Dayton School of Engineering Advisory Board and also participates in Boeing leadership associa- tion activities.
