current building.
Greathed has hosted the local hunts for many years and the start of this year’s was watched by the nursing home’s residents, which included individuals, who had themselves taken part in and been part of the hunt in their younger days. The event was a great spectacle with the backdrop of the historic building of Greathed. This building, formally known as Ford Manor, has a wealth of history dating back to the early 1600s, when it was owned by the Gainsford family, and more recently in 1868, it was owned by Norman Morris, who commissioned the
The building was lovingly converted three years ago this month by Pressbeau Ltd and is now a wonderful nursing home, its beautiful country setting perfect for people to relax and enjoy their days.
The bedrooms have beautiful views over the local countryside with its abundance of wildlife including the usual squirrels, pheasants and birds, and the additional pleasure of wild deer and specialist cattle.
Greathed has the pleasure of holding an OPEN DAY on 27th February, when they would love you to come and see this amazing building with all its history for yourselves. Come and tread where local history was made.

THE new operators of Edenbridge Market say they are keen to expand the weekly event by attracting more traders and customers. Wendy Fair signed a five-year agreement with Edenbridge Town Council just before Christmas and officially took over from Platts Market at the beginning of the year. Nick Hobday from Wendy Fair explained that he would be seeking to expand when the weather started to improve in the spring with the possibility of some ‘cross- fertilisation’ from the company’s other markets in Sevenoaks and Swanley. He said Edenbridge already had a good core of traders selling necessities and the idea was to try and bring in others that did
not compete but would benefit from the passing trade. Wendy Fair is also offering local charitable organisations the chance to raise some extra cash by taking a charity stall.
Charities will be able to book a stall once a year – although this could be more if space was available – with one stall available at each market. Anyone interested is invited to write in on their charity headed notepaper to Wendy Fair Markets, St Martin’s House, 17a High Street, Ruislip, Middlesex, HA4 7AU. For more information about the market call Mr Hobday on 01895 632221 or email
