4 W elcome to the first edition of small magazine is a sister publication to which has been published in the Quercy region for a few years.

Most people helping with these magazines would make unlikely ‘hacks’ (in tabloid terms), like me; they probably have enough trouble recovering their own mobile phone messages and aren’t ready to consider the prospect of using underhand technology to discover local activities. So we hope people in the Gascony region will keep us informed so that we can make this publication reflect the lives of those in the region.

In this edition we’ve included a feature on (a couple) of artists living in the region as well as a focus on a couple of very interesting local businesses. One aim of this magazine is to encourage everyone in the regions to support those living and working close to them. So please do take a look at what people are doing and support these businesses and our advertisers whenever possible. This FREE magazine is funded entirely by advertising and so these businesses are very important to us!

Mary Shepherd, who has her own home in Gascony, is taking a leading role in organising the distribution and content for this magazine. Mary can be contacted on mary@gasconylocal.com.

We are also ‘on the look out’ for great places to leave these magazines where English speakers can pick up copies. So if you have a shop, bar, restaurant, office, club or association or can recommend a great place, do let Mary know.

Wishing you all the very best for 2012.
