WELCOME LETTER
April 19, 2011 Dear Attendee: Welcome to the 2011 Green California Summit!
Whatever short-term challenges California may face, its commitment to sustainability remains a constant. Fortunately, the Golden State’s unique combination of forward-looking policy and technology innovation are making it possible to align the pursuit of environmental preservation and economic growth.
Te policies that California has enacted – from the Global Warming Solutions Act and the CALGreen building code to landmark commitments to energy efficiency and building renewable energy capacity – have established it as a national and international green leader. Te great rewards for California’s citizens will come from successful implementation of these policies, and this Summit was created to provide education, information and resources that can support such efforts.
Your presence here demonstrates your commitment to a green future. We hope that the hours you spend at the Summit will bring you new tools, new perspectives and new relationships that make your work more effective and more satisfying.
As never before, the actions that each of us take over the coming months will define the future of our great state. We have all the raw materials that we need to prosper and to protect California’s abundant beauty and natural resources.
Tank you for all that you have done, and for the contributions you will make over the coming year. We look forward to hearing what you’ve accomplished when we meet again next year.
Yours sincerely,
Linda A. Adams Secretary California Environmental Protection Agency
Dave Walls Executive Director California Building Standards Commission
