H

eidelberg University is a place of great tradition, great aca- demic and extra-curricular

offerings, great sense of family com- munity and great promise.

We’ve come a long way since 1850 when five students attended classes in a commercial building in downtown Tiffin. Trough the decades, we’ve maintained our commitment to pro- vide a quality education that enriches our students’ academic and experi- ential opportunities, leading them to lives of purpose with distinction. Today, our liberal arts curriculum and professional programs not only honor our founders’ hopes and dreams, but prepare our students to begin to build successful careers.

Our overarching and strategic plans lie within our goal to continuously improve academic excellence and the student experience. Heidelberg provides an education that engages students’ minds by encouraging integrative thinking and the ability to synthesize ongoing change effectively. Classroom experiences, coupled with many opportunities to hone leader- ship skills, challenge students, sup- port their goals, draw them into new experiences and teach them how to succeed. Faculty and staff, along with innovative programming, nurture their development into confident and responsible individuals who are engaged not only in the Heidelberg community but in the local commu- nity as well.

Heidelberg’s student-centered campus culture is all about engagement. We expect every student to get personally involved in their learning. Students can choose to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular, volunteer, travel abroad and athletic activities. A key component is learning about and respecting different cultures and ideas. In recent years, Heidelberg has made a conscious effort to be a welcoming, inclusive campus for all ethnicities. We believe firmly that learning and living in a diverse, multicultural com- munity is a critical element in prepar- ing our students to succeed in a global environment.

Beginning in 2010, Heidelberg em- barked upon an aggressive and vision- ary Strategic Action Plan, developed around improving academic excel- lence and the student experience. Te thrust of the plan implementation has been an exciting campaign to build new facilities and renovate existing structures. Since the fall of 2010, we have completed the renovation of the stately Adams Hall and the School of Business, a new Media Communica- tion Center, our first new Residence Life & Learning Hall in 60 years and separately, Te University Commons. Construction is well under way for our new Saurwein Health & Wellness Center, with a scheduled completion date of August 1, 2012. Planning has

We are proud to host Te Patricia Adams Lecture Series, which brings to campus twice annually exceptional female speakers from a broad spec- trum of personal and professional backgrounds. Te series provides yet another extraordinary opportunity for students to interact with individu- als who have had a significant impact on their community or career field. Since the series kicked off in the fall of 2010, Heidelberg has hosted Enron whistleblower Sherron Watkins, for- mer AT&T President Betsy Bernard and Sesame Street Executive Producer Carol-Lynn Parente (with a special guest appearance by Elmo).
