Beverley Folk Festival in 1991, which was judged by Maddy Prior and Clive Gregson, and the prize was to make a record – so the single ‘Daddy’s Gone Crazy’ was release on vinyl on Harbourtown Records (I’m not sure that the people at Harbourtown would remember, but I still have a few copies if there are any vinyl enthusiasts out there!!) I made my first proper CD. ‘With my Boots On’ in 1996 which led to me playing solo at Glastonbury and being invited to do a whole tour as support for Christy Moore, so suddenly I was playing to several thousand people at places like Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall! Amazing!!!


I had a bit of time out to have my children (I have two boys, now aged 13 and 11), and decided to form Waking the Witch in 2002 instead of going back on the road again on my own. We spent five years touring throughout the UK - released 3 CDs and a DVD - and played at many of the major festivals. It was great great fun and we played some great music in great places!
