Counselors

Counselors Make allMake all the Difference!

the Difference!

In 2011, we had 700 volunteers combined at our four sites. Without their loving devotion to camping ministries, it would not be possible.

Do you have time to volunteer a week this summer and be a part of the wonderful ministry of Christian camping? Events at every site, with every age, may be looking for a counselor with the gifts and talents that you possess.

For more information on volunteering as a counselor, please contact either the sites or the Conference office. We will connect you with Event Directors who are looking for talented counselors. Must be at least 15 years of age.

We will be having a counselor training and workshop at each of our locations!

If you have ever thought of being a counselor, or you are going to be a counselor at our camps in 2012, please attend one of our workshops.

These events are free and include lunch! There will be time to meet and greet with Event Directors and learn more about the camps at those sites.

If you would like to at end one of these workshops, please contact the site via phone or e-mail to sign up.

Excellence Excellence

Safe Sanctuaries is a process developed to train and certify persons as safe workers with children and youth in Conference ministries. The policies were adopted in 1999, in response to God’s call to welcome all children and to protect them from the devastating eff ects of child abuse.

The policy and procedures outline how a person may become certifi ed to work with the above populations. Currently, this requires training and completion of paperwork. The paperwork includes a background check, personal references, and a self-disclosure covenant.

Anyone who is 15 years or older and interested in working with children and youth as well as vulnerable adults in district and Conference level ministries are required to be Safe Sanctuaries certified. For more information, please visit the Conference web site at www.moumethodist.org/safesanctuaries.
