I just love
Denise Mercado President
I just love this time of year. Even though I am currently feeling a bit overwhelmed at the prospect of all I have left to do before the holidays, I am simultaneously and mysteriously exhilarated by those very same thoughts. I think the hustle and bustle and seemingly endless list of things to get done gives me a heightened sense of purpose.
Another reason I love this season so much is that it always makes me keenly aware of my responsibility to help others. It is so easy to get wrapped up in my own world and my own projects – but the holiday season has a way of refocusing my attention to things far more important than me and my personal corner of the world.
It is in that spirit that we offer the winter edition of EMPOWERED. We hope you will find articles to help and to inspire. For young parents who wonder what the future will hold for your little ones, be sure to read the love story included in this magazine. It just might help you expand your vision of their futures. Read the on-going saga of Nadia and her mother’s fight for appropriate services. Read about a church that is committed to inclusion for special needs children.
As you look to the New Year, consider a family cruise. Not a possibility for your family? Think again. Not only can your family go on a cruise, but we have included information on how your family can apply for a grant to help pay for your cruise. Just think, you could be leaving from Charleston on your way to Key West and Nassau in April.
I hope you will make time in your busy holiday schedule to read this issue of EMPOWERED. We have prepared it hoping it will provide you with helpful information to make your life a little less complicated. We have prepared it hoping some of the articles will provide inspiration and comfort, and we have prepared it hoping that you will find goals and dreams to add to your 2012 bucket list.
On behalf of the entire Team Daniel family, we wish all of you a very happy and blessed holiday season.
Denise
