A town full of surprises and community spirit
hen I was asked to write this column for Essentially Edenbridge I wanted to say something that was a little different to my usual column in The Chronicle and I thought that given the time of year I would like to share with you our experience of Edenbridge. When my wife Di and I were looking

for a location for our business Magnolias, we looked closely at the towns surrounding where we live and decided that Edenbridge ticked all the boxes. It is right in the centre of the south east with good road and rail links, on the borders of Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Little did we know what we were letting ourselves in for! One year later, I am the chairman of the newly named Eden Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Di is its new secretary. I am telling you all this, because we also discovered some other surprises about Edenbridge and its people. We have found such friendliness,

I hope that 2012 will be even more exciting for our members and the residents of the Valley. We have every intention of putting Edenbridge on the map so that we can attract even more investment into the shops and businesses that will make the Eden Valley an example of what can be achieved when we are all working together. On a personal note, Di and I would
like to thank all of you who have made us welcome and become friends since we first opened and to let you know that the Christmas marmalade is available in the shop! We hope everyone enjoys the Christmas Spectacular on Saturday, 3 December and we wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas, and a prosperous New Year for us all.
