Britain’s favourite villain joins Stag panto line up L

egendary soap villain Leslie Grantham, who played Dirty Den Watts in EastEnders, will join the panto line up at the Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks, playing the Demon King in Mother Goose this Christmas from 9 December 2011 to 1 January 2012.

His antics behind the bar of the Queen Vic secured his place as the most famous, or infamous, soap character of all time. Episodes featuring Den Watts were among some of the most viewed in history. Away from Television, Leslie Grantham has been playing the baddie in pantomimes for many years, appearing as top of the bill in some of the country’s biggest pantos. Joining Leslie on the line-up will be another well-known villain, but this time he’ll be showing a nicer side. Terrence Hardiman, who played the title role in the children’s TV show The Demon Headmaster, will be playing the grumpy but lovable Squire Skinflint. Terrence has, more recently, taken a major role in Doctor Who, playing Hawthorne in the episode The Beast Below. His on stage daughter, Jill Skinflint, will be played by 90’s pop sensation, West End star and Sevenoaks panto regular Lolly, aka Anna Kumble. Award Winning British Soul Singer Nate James, who has had chart success all over the world and sold more than a quarter of a million albums to date, also joins the cast as principal boy Colin Goose. He will have the unenviable task of joining the regular panto family of Robert Pearce and Ant Payne, who will play his mum, Mother Goose, and his brother, Silly Billy Goose, respectively.

On the full line up

of this year’s panto, producer Jamie Wilson said: “It’s a ridiculously talented cast. A soap legend, a children’s TV legend, two chart topping singers, and a comic and dame back by popular demand for a third year in a row! The pressure is always on to make each year’s panto better than the last, but with a cast like this, half the work is done for me.” Last year, the Stag’s panto broke box office records, and

this year, over two thousand tickets have already been sold. The Stag Theatre chief executive, Linda Larter, said: “In such a short time the pantomimes at the Stag have gained an amazing reputation, as the pre-sales are demonstrating. We are confident that the producers will deliver another excellent show, not to be missed.” For more information on the show and how to book tickets visit www.sevenoakspanto.com or call the Stag box office on 01732 450175.
