title role in the children’s television show The Demon Headmaster, appears on stage. Members of the cast have generously agreed to waive their fee in lieu of a £1,000 donation to The Stag Theatre charity. Lovers of fashion should make their way along to Rickards Hall just off the High Street at 6pm for a fashion show featuring adults and children’s casual and evening wear by Chic Dress Agency and the newly opened Little Chic Children’s Dress Agency with hair by Halo and make up by Zoe Gresham. There will also be a peel of bells at the parish church at 6pm. A road closure will be in place from Church Street to

Forge Croft during the day allowing visitors to take full advantage of what’s on offer. There will be children’s rides galore, a donkey petting area just off the High Street and a puzzling mirror maze. Shoppers will be able to browse among the stalls at a Christmas market in the Nat West car park and there’s a chance for young ones to visit Santa’s grotto in Akeide at 102 High Street. The shops should also look their best with many taking part in the Christmas window competition. The fire brigade and police are expected to be in attendance as well. Adding to the atmosphere, red and

warm white lights will run the length of the High Street, while a large illuminated Christmas tree at the southern end and another planned for the town centre will be a welcome sight for visitors. Turn to pages 12, 13 and
