Masham

Watch the world go by from the largest Market Place in Yorkshire

The picturesque market town of Masham (pronounced ‘Massam’) sits gently in the stunning countryside of the Yorkshire Dales.

The Market Place with its beautiful Georgian houses is dotted with local shops and cafes and hosts a bustling Wednesday and Saturday market. From here you can wander through historic lanes, browse in art and craft shops and sample celebrated Yorkshire cuisine in local pubs and stylish and award winning restaurants offering delicious local produce.

Don’t miss exploring the ancient church of St Mary’s with its elegant the spire - it dates from the 15th century and is first mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086.

Masham is famous for beer and is home to Black Sheep and Theakston Breweries where the cooper still makes the traditional wooden barrels. Treat yourself to a tour and try their traditional ales, then explore the Masham Leaves Walk and meander through pastures and woodland alongside the Rivers Ure and Burn to discover the oak leaf sculpture trail.
