Recycling with LORI R
EDUCING the amount of waste we produce
doesn’t stop at recycling bottles and plastics. There is so much more we can recycle and re-use and many of these things can have a di- rect impact on people’s lives. Lorn and Oban Reuse Ini- tiative (LORI) is an independ- ent Scottish charity that has backing from Shanks, Argyll and Bute Council, The Scot- tish Government, Leader, Wider Role and The Founda- tion Trust.
Operating for almost two years, it has established a service to sell reusable goods to provide funds to run the project.
The group also offers work placements and work experi- ence to the unemployed and to volunteers and provides Community Service place- ments.
These volunteers can re- aid, health and safety, man- ual handling, PAT testing and
customer services, among other skills. The group’s main aim is to take in reusable goods for resale, thus diverting goods
It sells a wide range of goods, from furniture to white good and electricals, which are all donated.
