Basler to Begin Series Production of Two New CMOS Sensor IP Camera Models
After the series production start of their new CCD box camera models last December, two new Basler IP Camera models with CMOS sensors have followed suit. They feature 720p HD and 5 megapixel resolutions, and a third model with
1080p Full HD resolution is due to follow next month. The BIP2-1280c-dn high definition model provides real-time video at a frame
rate of up to 30 fps using MJPEG, MPEG-4, and H.264 compression. The BIP2-2500c-dn IP Fixed Box Camera model is equipped with a 5 megapixel sensor to record even the smallest image details at a frame rate of 9 fps.
Their attractive pricing makes Basler's new CMOS sensor camera models a great value for an entry level product. In addition, CMOS sensors exhibit a number of image quality related advantages such as the almost complete lack of smearing effects, i.e., stripes in the image caused by an extremely bright light source. Blooming, a condition where very bright image structures extend into the darker structures, is also a very rare effect in cameras equipped with CMOS sensors as compared to CCD sensor cameras.

Honeywell have announced the addition of a miniature True Day/Night PTZ dome camera to its Performance Series range. The HDTX PTZ dome offers the economy and size of a fixed lens mini-dome camera whilst offering the functionality and versatility of a PTZ dome. The HDTX is a low profile unit suited to areas where a larger dome is impractical. Its small size remains virtually unnoticed in varying indoor surveillance applications, so it is perfect for retail sites or other environments where customers and visitors are monitored.
The camera provides excellent picture quality – even in low light - due to its 10X optical zoom lens and 470 TVL resolution. A single connection lead connects straight into the dome, saving the installer time on site or allowing more domes to be commissioned per day. Each unit comes with fittings so that it can be flush or surface-mounted. Wall and ceiling mount brackets are also available.
The HDTX is also environmentally friendly, designed to consume less energy and customers have the option to power it via either a 24VAC or 12VDC power supply.
“The HDTX offers installers and end-users a small, adaptable product that is easy to install and cost effective to operate,” comments Jeremy Kimber, Commercial Operational Marketing Leader EMEA. “In addition, because HDTX has a 360° viewing angle and the ability to get to any one of 127 programmable preset positions at 360° per second, it offers fast image capture in any direction.” IP
