NOVEMBERFILMRELEASES

2nd November Machine Gun PreacherGerard Butler finally shows that he can act as he plays former biker Sam Childers who stood up for hundreds of Sudanese child soldiers in this real life biopic.

4th November Te Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence Tis infamous sequel gets a release after finally getting certification. Another sicko, another centipede. If you didn’t think the first one was long enough, check out this one.

11th November Te Rum DiaryJohnny Depp stars in another tale of journalism from Hunter S Tompson. Tis one is set in a 1950s Caribbean. Fewer bats and more ex-pats than Fear and Loathing.

18th November Te Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1 Glittery vampires, werewolves with six packs, yet somehow less than six nipples. If you don’t know what this film is, then congratulations on your three years in a box, let me get you a pint.

BRIDESMAIDS DVD OF THE MONTH

“It’s a chick-flick, but it’s ok, it’s like Te Hangover”, is the way I’ve heard this movie described recently, especially between males down the pub semi-apologetically. Tis type of comparison to other male lead comedies, just

because they share bodily malfunctions needs to stop - now! Sure, it is funny when they get food poisoning whilst trying on dresses, and who doesn’t love a bit of drunken air rage. Te problem is whilst this comparison provides the closeted movie-goer with a shield of masculinity as their testosterone threatens to tear itself from their bodies (one men’s magazine even hailed it as a “vom-com”, ffs), it doesn’t go anywhere near to describing why this film really works. Te real strength of this film is in the characters. Kristen Wiig who co-wrote this film, is very good as Annie. I loved Wendi McLendon-Covey in Reno 911 and she delivers some great lines here, whilst Melissa McCarthy steals every scene she is in. Not all of it works though, and scenes involving Matt Lucas feel like someone broke into your house and used your camcorder to randomly film their arse in the middle of your wedding video. All in all though, it’s a very real comedy for everyone.

NOVEMBERDVDRELEASES

1st November Helldriver It’s Japanese, it stars an extremely hot Japanese girl who fights zombies and yes, she even has a chainsaw sword. Rent it now, better yet, get it on Blu-ray!

14th November Te Green Lantern Special effects-laden superhero flick starring Ryan Reynolds. People generally either love him or want to punch him in his annoyingly roguish grinning face. Base your decision to see this movie depending on which camp you fall in.

21st November Cars 2Tey’re back, and this time they take on the world as Lightning McQueen tries to be the fastest… oh, who cares! Tis film is a laugh, and it will stop the kids banging on about what they want for Christmas for 2 hours.

28th November Transformers 3: Dark of the MoonTe final part of the trilogy and the robots look amazing; so does Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley. Not as good as the others, but entertaining nevertheless.
