WHO ARE YOU? Martin Collingwood, Head of Construction Andrew Jackson.


WHAT WAS YOUR BEST HOLIDAY? My first trip to Thailand to visit my son and a New Year spent on a Thai beach with a thousand lanterns floating in the sky and fire crackers going off all around.


WHAT WAS YOUR WORST HOLIDAY? I can’t remember a bad one although I don’t take many.


WHAT IS YOUR DREAM HOLIDAY? Thailand.


WHO WOULD YOU NOT LIKE TO BE? Nick Leeson.


WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN?


Be true to yourself and be fair to others.


WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SMELL? Baking bread – my father was a baker.


WHAT BROUGHT YOU INTO THE INDUSTRY/ YOUR POSITION?


Luck. When I left university in 1974 being unsure of which side of the law I wanted to go into I decided to seek gainful employment and the company which employed me was a construction company. This brought me into construction and engineering law and I have never left it since.


FAMILY STATUS? Divorced with two sons, one of whom lives abroad and two grandchildren.


WHO IS YOUR HERO AND WHY? Aung San Suu Kyi. The quiet determination and resolve which she shows.


WHAT ANNOYS YOU THE MOST? Politicians, at least modern ones and their lack of focus and attention to detail.


WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME? What little spare time I have I spend with my grandchildren and try to keep fit.


WHAT SPORT DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN/ WATCH THE MOST?


The sports which I now watch (and am either too old or too poorly connected to participate in) are football and Formula 1.


WHAT IS THE MOST BIZARRE QUESTION YOU HAVE EVER BEEN ASKED…. APART FROM THIS ONE?


By a journalist “when you sold your house to him was there anything about him which suggested that he was a spy”. My answer “I don’t know many spies really so have little to compare him with”.


WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE RECORD/CD/ ARTIST/MUSIC? The Rolling Stones or Bruce Springstein: Street Fighting Man or Thunder Road.


WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO SPEND A ROMANTIC EVENING WITH OTHER THAN YOUR CURRENT PARTNER? Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn or Billie Holiday.


IF MONEY WAS NOT A FACTOR WHAT WOULD YOU BUY TOMORROW? Security for my children and grandchildren at least in material terms.


WHAT 3 WORDS WOULD BEST DESCRIBE YOU? Down to earth.


WHAT TALENT WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE? The ability to play a musical instrument.


WHAT MAKES YOU ANGRY? People who dress up simple things unnecessarily.


WHAT LAW/LEGISLATION WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE INTRODUCED? A greater control of the financial sector.


WHAT PROMINENT PERSON WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET? Einstein.


WHAT BOOK ARE YOU READING AT PRESENT?


I always have several books on the go. Currently I am looking at The Secrets of the Solar System by Brian Cox, An Introduction to Sociology, World Religions and Anglo Saxon England.


WHAT CAR DO YOU DRIVE? A very old Volvo V40.


WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN 10 YEARS FROM NOW?


I would still like to be working and making a positive contribution.
