Revolutionary training for visionary heads

Former Music Manifesto Champion Marc Jaffrey OBE explains why he’s teaming up with fellow education activist, Richard Gerver, to revolutionise training for senior school leaders

I

t’s a no-brainer really. Schools are facing unprecedented change: political, social and economic. From turning into academies to fixing ‘broken

Britain’, the demands on them are increasing on a daily basis. Yet support from the centre is shrinking. At the same time, while the funding of schools dominates the agenda, there is a vacuum when it comes

to detailed education policy. For visionary headteachers, that vacuum is a golden opportunity. It’s a chance to drive your vision of teaching and learning to prepare young people for life and work, influence the agenda and create the school you’ve always dreamed of leading. There’s just one problem. Even

visionary headteachers can lack the practical skills and experience to bring

about change successfully; others have those skills but feel isolated and unsupported and would value wise counsel as they move forward. Some simply don’t know where to begin. I’m determined to change that.

Along with the brilliant author and speaker on education, Richard Gerver, I’ve set up a brand new training operation to empower senior leaders in schools to identify and implement
