October 2011 MAINE COASTAL NEWS Page 15.

There are a number of rumours floating around the coast regarding Southport Island Marine, on Southport Island. Last spring the yard was put up for sale, but to date it has not been sold. There were also rumours that they had closed the doors, but this is not true. Presently, they are in the middle of their hauling season. They will haul approximately 40 boats, which will be stored in the yard. They will also haul another 70+ more boats that will be stored outside customers homes. This has been sold and will be finished off, half as a lobster boat and half as a yacht, for a customer from Yarmouth.

They also have six other lobster boats to build after this one is completed.

Lyman Morse Boatbuilding Co. in Thomaston is hauling storage customers, but also getting some ready to head south. The wooden yacht SINCERITY is up for

paint.

A Swan 100 has been hauled and they have pulled her rig. She will be staying the winter during which time they will paint and install a new generator.

A 36 foot sailboat was under construc- tion by her owner, but he has decided to have Lyman Morse finish the interior. This project will be done next spring.

As for new construction, a Bruce Farr 63 sailboat has just been started. They are work-
