Boost for Broadlands
New factory for cult treat
CULT KENTISH chocolate treat Goupie has moved out of the kitchen and into a new factory in Goudhurst. The chewy confection has up until now been hand-made in the Hawkhurst kitchen of husband and wife team Joe and Janet Simpson. It’s a family recipe half a century old. The Simpsons have developed eleven new flavours based on the original, including ginger, hazelnut and one made with Kentish lavender and they supply more than 100 retail

Despite difficult economic conditions, the commercial property market in and around the Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells area seems to be holding firm, according to Shane Raggett of Broadlands Commerical Property Agents. “Enquiries for business space throughout the year have been remarkably good. With the traditionally quiet summer-holiday period now behind us, we are optimistic about the future.
customers across Kent, Sussex and Surrey – mainly farm shops, delis and village stores. Janet Simpson says of the new unit on the Spelmonden Estate: “It will allow us to expand while maintaining excellent product quality and customer service standards. It is an easy to maintain, hygienic space. Although we have only been producing here for a couple of weeks, the benefits of being in a purpose- design factory are already evident.” If you are already a Goupie Groupie, you might be interested in

market FARMERS, SMALLHOLDERS and mechanics could bag a bargain at a machinery sale at the South of England Centre on 13 October. The Ardingly centre has hosted the event for more than 25 years and visitors can view the
agricultural and garden equipment up for auction. Small tools, paints and shrubs will be on sale, too. The sale starts at 10am and finishes at 1pm. Catalogues are available from South East Marts on 01323 844874 or can be downloaded from
www.southeastmarts.co.uk. For more information about the South of England Centre, see

Freehold properties still seem to be the most sought-after – either offices or warehouse/industrial buildings. A recent transaction we’ve undertaken saw a 14,000sq.ft warehouse building in Longfield Road, Tunbridge Wells [above] selling for in excess of £1million – it’s to be converted into a Gymnastics Centre. For further information on available commercial properties, call Shane Raggett at Broadlands Commercial Property Agents on 01892 512422.
