New Physicians at Perlmutter Health Center T


wo physicians have recently joined the Perlmut- ter Health Center, in Naples. Carol Roberts, M.D., ABIHM, board certified in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery, is a founding diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medi- cine (ABIHM). She specializes in women’s health, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, digestive disorders, circulatory diseases, preventive care, bioidentical hormone therapy, thyroid and adrenal problems and weight loss.


Fred Harvey, M.D., ABIHM, a board-certified


internist and geriatrician, is also a founding diplomate of the ABIHM. He focuses on adult medicine and optimal aging, but sees patients of all ages and specializes in andropause/male hormone balance, arthritis, ADD and ADHD, autoimmune diseases, cancer prevention, chronic sinusitis, depression and anxiety, diabetes, osteoporosis and sleep/insomnia, among other health issues.

First-Ever WHOLE Convention A


n innovative concept in promoting holistic thinking, living and sharing among educators and healers will be provided in North Miami next month. The Web


of Holistic Educators (WHOLE) is hosting the WHOLE 11-11-11 Convention from 6 to 9 p.m., November 11, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., November 12, at the Kovens Confer- ence Center, in the Biscayne Bay Campus section of Florida International University. The event, co-sponsored by Natural Awakenings, offers a self-directed, facilitated learning environment, with concurrent education sessions, interactive panels and poster exhibitions. Presentations designed for all levels of experience will focus on current and emerging issues, best practices and challenges faced by holistic think- ers and practitioners. Continuing education units for massage therapists, marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers and mental health counselors will be available. Opening night events include Janet Weisberg leading a workshop on reconnecting with Mother Earth and musical performances by renowned Venezuelan artist Jesus Hidalgo and the Pachamama Project. Saturday presenters include Timothy Evans, Ph.D., executive director of the Florida Adlerian Society and professor at Webster University; and Chiricahua Apache Native American Joe Iron Eagle; plus Brahmadev, Geri Carter, Dr. Isaac Goren, Dr. Leonor Murciano Chen, Ann Smith, Melissa Cramer, Autumn Raab, Lorraine Meyer, Suzzanne Barros, Lucy Caso, Adriana Zarate and Dr. Bernie Burton.


Principals of WHOLE include chair Silvia Casabianca, a Reiki master/teacher licensed as a mental health counselor, certified Trager practitioner and massage therapist, with an office in Bonita Springs; treasurer Diana Salazar, a psychologist and Reiki practitioner based in Lehigh Acres; and board member Mila Collett, a health coach and Reiki practitioner in Naples.
