Rain Barrel Workshop at Rutenberg Park

earn how to collect, conserve and use rainwater at a Florida Yards & Neighbor- hoods workshop from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., October 29, at Rutenberg Park, in Fort Myers. The event, held at the park’s Eco- Center, will also provide tips on preventing storm water runoff and saving money. Fifty-five gallon recycled barrels will be transformed into rain barrels that attendees can then take home to use. Workshop instructors note that only a quarter-inch of rain on a typical roof can translate to more than 600 gallons of water for landscape and potted plants and vegetable and herb gardens.
