First-Ever Florida Panther Festival L


earn about and support an endangered animal species while being entertained at a free, family-friendly event in Naples. The first annual Florida Panther Festival, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., October 29, at North Collier Regional Park, will feature presentations by panther biologists and capture team mem- bers; educational exhibits by the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples, Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens and The Ritz-Carlton, Naples’ Nature’s Wonders program; a Living with Wildlife pavilion; trail walks; children’s activities; live music by Bugtussle Ramblers and Frontline Bluegrass; and food vendors. On October 28, field trips can be arranged in panther habitats such as Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge, Big Cypress National Preserve, Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, CREW Land & Water Trust, Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park and Picayune Strand State Forest.

Starhawk Leads Workshop on Empowerment

ward-winning author and speaker Star- hawk will lead a Holding Power Well workshop and rituals at 7 p.m., November 4; from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., November 5; and from 1 to 5 p.m., November 6, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers. Drawing upon thoughts and principles from her new book, The Empowerment Manual: A Guide for Collaborative Groups, the event will provide a window to utilizing our power

and owning it as a life-giving force; recognizing when we do have power; using it in ways that empower others; and nurtur- ing and supporting leadership in our groups, while also holding our leaders accountable.


Tools to be discussed include power within sacred space, ritual, trance and energy work that can transform destructive patterns into energies freed for change.
