Perfect

There’s more to lip-care than piling on the balm. Mandy Temple’s advice will keep your lips kissable and your smile glowing.

Pout

When you fi rst meet someone your eyes are automatically drawn to their lips. Like eyebrows, lips have always been an important feature in beauty; smooth, full lips are attractive, sensual and suggest youth and because we look at lips when people talk, they are a prominent feature on the face.

Drink Water

Drinks that are full of sugar can dry your lips, which can make them look fl aky or cracked. Drink plenty of water to keep your lips refreshed and hydrated. Dark drinks can also discolour your lips so avoid too much coffee.

Exfoliate

By exfoliating your lips you can help reduce the appearance of fi ne lines. By

exfoliating once a week you will remove dead skin cells to give your lips a more youthful appearance and rebuild the collagen.

Cosmetic

As we get older our lips will become thinner, lose their fullness and fade in colour. Cosmetic lip tattoo is now becoming more widely available.

“If you would like a fuller pout, we offer various permanent make-up treatments with Helen Porter who has over 10 years experience in the fi eld,” says Kaylie from Evolution Skin (01227 764633). “Lip Blush enhances the natural colour of your lips and our permanent lip liner extends your lip line, which helps to make them look fuller. “The treatment starts from £395 and it can last over a year.” she continues.

Make-Up Tricks You don’t have to break the

bank to get that plumped up pout; there are lots of make-up tricks. If you want to make your lips look bigger, cover them with foundation and then blot. This will disguise any imperfections and hide your natural lip line and it will also give you a good even base for your lipstick colour. “To make your lips

look fuller and plumper, add a touch of highlighter just above the upper lip and dab a little but to the centre of your bottom lip.” says Lucy Oldham, owner of Blush Airbrushing (079 1789 0733 or email lucy@ blushairbrushing.com ) “Adding a touch of

concealer around the outside corners of your mouth will give your lips more defi nition and make your lips appear

fuller.” She also shares this tip: “To keep your lips in good condition exfoliate with a little bicarbonate soda and apply a moisturising lip balm to prevent moisture loss and keep lips hydrated and plump.”

Whiter Teeth

A pearly white smile is common amongst the celebs so why can’t us normal folk benefi t from a brilliant white smile? Thankfully, local cosmetic

dentists can help. “We offer two types of teeth whitening treatments including Zoom, our in-house treatment and home tray kits,” says Gio Scialo, General Manager at Pennypot Dental (www.pennypotdental.co.uk). “The home tray kits

are great if you want a gradual change and they are completely bespoke.”
