Career Aspirations:
I aspire to have a career in the YMCA and to be the best at what I do, in whatever role I am in. My hope is to also provide opportunities and leadership to others, similar to the great ones that have been provided to me. I have a history in aquatics, camp, and membership with the YMCA, as well as additional local and international youth development experiences that I hope to draw from in a future role. Te 40 members of the Teens in Action Program from the McBurney YMCA in New York City visited Springfield College on April 18 and 19 as part of a four-day college exploration tour. Te group spent a day and half on campus to learn more about the College and its YMCA professional studies program. Te teens engaged in a series of games and workshops designed and led by YMCA Club student leaders. Campus tours, a panel discussion about college life, and attendance at the weekly YMCA Club meeting were other highlights of the visit. As a result, the office of YMCA relations was pleased to host two outstanding teens from the McBurney YMCA one week later, for an overnight visit to further explore Springfield College and the career opportunities present in the YMCA.

world. Rather than see the letter “C” be taken out of the YMCA, I hope to lead by example and see it redefined in a more welcoming, accepting, positive, and service- based way that overcomes some negative associations with the word “Christian” in society.
Community/Club Involvement: t Resident assistant (RA), selected as a head RA for 2011-2012
t Dedicated volunteer for Friends of the Homeless, a local soup kitchen, serving weekly and continually recruiting other student volunteers
t Mentor with the campus Partners Program, connecting weekly with local youth
t Actively involved with campus faith-based group, and started weekly fellowship group
t Organized collaborative campaign “We’re All in This Together,” raising more than $1,200 for the American Red Cross and Japan relief efforts and awareness on campus about the impact individuals can have on the world around them

Teens from the YMCA of Greater Springfield visited Springfield College on April 20 to tour the campus and learn more about the YMCA professional studies program as part of their college exploration program.
