academic days where I’d wrestle the fresh orthodontic braces out of the puffy mouth of any kid who dared put his hands on the last of the new line of New Term stationary from WHSmiths. Tere’s an optimism about September that says even if you managed to royally fuck up the first eight months of the year, salvation can be found in the ninth month at the bottom of a shiny pencil tin. September in our line of work is also a brand new dawn, as the new wave of students dictate that we shall enjoy a whole new calendar of revelry, with unmissable gigs being booked every day for the autumn. It is from this crop that we pluck a few bands to delve into the minds of, with this month’s interviews taking in a wealth of musical promise. We also have our own little exploit to share – our joint venture with the BBC Music Video Festival, Music: in Focus 2K10-2K11, which is a photographic exhibition of the finest in visual documentation of Norwich’s musical calendar. As with so many situations, it’s all about giving and receiving – we give, and in turn please let us be thankful receptors to your undivided attention over the next 60 pages…
