NORWICH SOUND & VISION


It’s events like this, the Norwich Sound & Vision Festival that make Norwich’s defeat in the City of Culture stakes pale into insignificance. What we can’t show in a kind of soclal trophy cabinet, we more than make up for as creativity, achievement and talent are celebrated in this city every day. After a first year that ignited Norwich’s passion for understanding the world behind the music we listen to, Norwich Sound & Vision returns triumphantly for a second year, bringing industry figureheads and music trailblazers for a series of conferences and gigs. In the same calendar period that sees Norwich present the BBC Music Video Festival, we get treated to performances from Esben & the Witch, Beth Jeans Houghton, Fever Fever, Sargasso Trio, DELS (our cover star) and many more acts in various locations across the city. The event runs from 29th September – 1st October, and looks set to double last years draw of 2,500 people. RUMSEY WELLS


All aboard the good ship Birthday Romp for The Rumsey Wells’ 3rd birthday celebrations! Over the past three years, The Rumsey has grown into its stylish grown up boots, gaining a reputation in varying fields of art – opening its exhibition space, Art in the Underbelly; music – giving a platform to live bands and ever-popular DJs; food – growing the menu organically from its pie and mash origins to now offering a smorgasbord of local tastes and treasures; and of course, liquor! From the humble pint to the finest whiskies, The Rumsey provides a tipple for the spectrum of liquid appetites. As well as its usual packed calendar of events, The Rumsey will be celebrating its birthday in style, with details of the shenanigans to be found on their various webby platforms.
