Intelligent Cities Conference

About the Conference Leading the transformation to Smart, Sustainable Cities

DAY 1: ENERGY & RESOURCES By 2050 there will be an additional 3 billion people on Earth and 70% of the world’s population will be living in cities. Growing pressure on resources means that cities need to become increasingly efficient, and self-sufficient, in terms of both energy and water.

Day One of the Intelligent Cities conference will focus on:

Retrofitting smart energy systems in urban buildings and homes Financing large-scale smart grid deployment Integrating renewable energy and district heating into the city Capitalising on new waste and water management technologies

DAY 2: GOVERNANCE Cities are complex organisational networks, with multiple stakeholders. To achieve the transformation necessary to become a truly intelligent city, city leaders need to bring all stakeholders together, secure their buy-in to the economic case for this transformation, and define a roadmap for its implementation.

Day Two of the Intelligent Cities conference will focus on:

Building the institutional capacity to deliver smart solutions New partnership models for cities, utilities and developers

Securing public and private finance Driving innovation through open data systems

8-10 NOVEMBER 2011

DAY 3: INTELLIGENT MOBILITY Urban mobility is essential to productivity, health and quality of life within a city. As cities become increasingly congested, all these things are under threat. Intelligent, interconnected transport systems, combined with the widespread adoption of electric vehicles, could revolutionise the way we move around our cities.

Day Three of the Intelligent Cities conference will focus on:

Integrating intelligent systems into existing transportation infrastructure Analysing the outcomes of existing smart transportation systems Successful business models for investment in electric vehicle infrastructure Leading the culture shift towards electric mobility
