Per Blixt presents details of current EU initiatives in the field of intelligent cities, and shares his insight into how cities can create the right platforms to support smart, user- oriented services in the fields of energy and mobility.

KEYNOTE


Per has more than 15 years experience in the Swedish Cabinet office and the Swedish Representation to the EU. For the past 10 years he has been head of unit at the European Commission’s DG INFSO, Unit F4, New Infrastructure Paradigms and Experimental Facilities. Per has solid experience of policy-making for the Ministry of Finance, the Swedish Prime Minister’s Office, Transport and Communications.

Konrad Otto-Zimmermann, Secretary General ICLEI, GERMANY


Konrad is the secretary general of ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability, and director of the ICLEI World Secretariat. He built up and led ICLEI's European Secretariat in Freiburg, Germany from 1992-2001. From 1987-1992 he was head of the Environmental Planning division of the City of Freiburg, and from 1985-1987 he was project leader of the regional Environmental Project Black Forest. Konrad is the creator of the idea of 'eco-link' for urban transport

POLICY ADDRESS


Sven Dammann will present the European Commission's initiative for the energy- efficient cities of tomorrow, a €75 million package to demonstrate smart integration of urban energy technologies in selected pilot cities, to kick-start important new markets for European industry and to address the 70% of the EU's energy consumption that takes places in cities.
