Sven’s work focuses on the development of low-carbon energy technologies to market maturity, and energy-efficient cities. He previously worked in the Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and Information Society Unit of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), where he facilitated stakeholder feedback on EU draft legislation, and initiated and edited the EESC’s European Sustainable Construction Glossary and the European Cycling Lexicon.

Since March 2011, Olaf Scholz has been First Mayor and head of government of the German state of Hamburg. From 2009-2011 he was chairman of the Hamburg Social Democratic Party (SDP), vice chairman of the SPD Germany, and vice chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the National Assembly. From 2007-2009 he was Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, and from 2005 to 2007 he was Chief Whip/First Parliamentary Secretary of the SPD
