Royal Coeur Represents U.S. at World Champs
Marne Martin-Tucker spends her time travel- ing between her job in England and her home
in Woodbine. She considers herself your typical adult amateur, however, there is nothing “typi- cal” about Marne and her six-year-old German Oldenburg mare Royal Coeur. T e pair is rep- resenting the U.S. at the 2011 World Champi- onships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany on August 3-7. Marne bought the then four-year-old mare
in April 2009 at the Vechta Elite Auction. “She had so much talent, but did not have so much training at that point,” Marne said. Marne add- ed that it took time to build the mare’s strength but that she was easy to train. “What I liked
blood in her as well and her lineage is a mixture of jumping and dressage lines. Marne started to compete Royal Coeur light-

about her, and this was of course validated by her very high Mare Performance score, was the high quality of all three of her gaits and her natural balance and athleticism,” Marne stated. Royal Coeur comes from Royal Hit and Le Coeur lines. T e De Baeys, who were famous for creating the Rembrandt and Rubinstein dy- nasties, bred her. Royal Coeur can trace back her lineage to the famous Anglo-Arabian Ramzes as well. Although she is a German Oldenburg, Marne said that she has a lot of Holsteiner

ly in 2010 and this year began competing in the six-year-old young horse classes. Her score at the Somerford Park Premier League Dres- sage Show (Cheshire, England on May 28-30) was an 8.36, with 10 being a perfect score. T is was the second highest U.S. qualifying score for six-year-olds. T e score also qualifi ed the pair to compete at the British Young Horse Finals but Marne has decided to skip that show and compete in Verden instead. Marne and Royal Coeur went on to score an 8.8 at Hickstead this past June. For Marne, competing at Verden is just one step towards her goal of riding this mare one day at international Grand Prix competitions. “As probably the only adult amateur with a ca- reer [outside of horses], to attend the World Championships… it means the world to me,” Marne commented. Marne also achieved a milestone this year with her Grand Prix horse Escobar when the pair broke the 70% mark at a European competition. “It is a culmination of so many years of hard work, training with really good people, dedication and love for my horses to be where I am. I have the support of my husband and of course, the tolerance from my employers to facilitate these great mile- stones. For me, Verden is a super highlight for where Royal Coeur is,” she added. placed at Verden in T e Equiery’s upcoming October International issue.
