GRAD MAG – CASE STUDY

My name is Shaun Mooney and I am a Web Consultant at Yell. I have created websites for hundreds of clients with very different needs, from the SME to the multi-national corporation. I speak to clients on a daily basis, understanding their needs to write really exciting, engaging marketing content for websites. From architects to tattooists, I have written them all.

I didn't set out to be a copywriter. I took an undergraduate degree in Creative Writing and Media Studies at The University of Winchester, with the intention of making my millions as an author. However, I soon realised this was not going to happen for me overnight, and after graduating I temped for a little while, picking up general office skills. After a few months of temping I really was looking for 'the job', and saw a job advertised seeking 'creative writers'.

It turned out that job was the Web Consultant role at Yell. I now get to practice my copywriting ability on a daily basis, while learning really valuable skills and information regarding marketing, web design and even what makes a good web address. In my spare time, I run my own online music and culture magazine, HOWL, interviewing bands and reviewing the latest albums.
