MTLA Sponsor Bowl Kicked-off
at the Workhorse Conference by David B. Walls, CAE, CMP
While we wait to see how the Ravens’
season will end, MTLA invites all mem- bers in good standing to become players in the MTLA Sponsor Bowl. The kickoff happened at the November 9th
Work-
horse Seminar. MTLA’s marketing chair, Lawrence S. Greenberg of Greenberg Law Offices, Baltimore, MD, threw the first pass in the form of a mini football. The team of attendees huddled together as their leader issued the following challenge, “The first MTLA member to recruit a silver-level sponsor or higher will receive this brand new iPod touch.” Our sponsors cannot be undervalued.
They are our season ticket holders that make our organization stronger with their financial support and myriad of valuable products and services. A list of current sponsors is on page 33. If these are your current vendors, please thank them for their support. If you don’t cur- rently use them, please consider them when the need arises. A few of our pro bowl list of sponsors
have gone above and beyond, including L.A.D. Reporting and Digital Videogra- phy; they generously offered to videotape this year’s live seminars. The cost savings to the attendee are HUGE. Byte Right Support, LLC, has provided the office with computer, software, networking and troubleshooting services for years. Choice Technologies, Inc. is helping MTLA evaluate an upcoming software system project. Settlement service com- panies, chiropractors, phone system companies, printing and imaging com- panies, court reporting services, various medical associates and consultants all belong to the MTLA Sponsor Program and can support your team too. “We are widening the playing field.
The goal is for our members to share their resources with other MTLA mem- bers and have a little fun doing so.” said

Larry Greenberg, chair of the MTLA Mar- keting/Sponsorship Programs Committee, challenges members to participate in the Spon- sor Bowl. The member with the most points at the end of the Sponsor Bowl wins $2,000.
Mr. Greenberg. “Any vendor that any attorney uses is a potential candidate for sponsorship. If you use them, other members can as well.” Lawrence Greenberg and his commit-
tee members came up with a game plan to have a friendly contest to encourage members to recruit sponsors. Beginning November 9th
, any MTLA member in
good standing is encouraged to recruit sponsors. For every sponsor drafted and contract signed, points are awarded. On February 8, 2008, the member with the most points will win $2,000. Those members who want to create a fantasy team and work together to recruit spon- sors split the points and if they win, the cash. Those members who draft and sign current sponsors to move up a level or two will also be awarded points. This contest is designed for members to have fun and expose their current service pro- viders to nearly 1,200 plaintiff attorneys throughout Maryland. If you are not currently familiar with
the list of MTLA sponsors, I encourage you to visit the website at
www.mdtrial-
lawyers.com and click on the “sponsors” tab. Here, you will find the list of sponsors, a listing of experts/service providers by category, the Sponsorship Program description and sponsorship

who are actively recruiting sponsors now. They tell me that they have their assistant copy the program description and the application every time they are visited by a vendor. You’d be surprised how often this will work. A little screen pass can lead to a big score. Full contest rules, links to the spon-
sor description and a current standings sheet are available online; visit www.
mdtriallawyers.com/sponsorbowl. Every Monday, the list will be updated. You can see who you are competing against and who is in the lead. If you have questions, call me or any of
the staff at the office at (410) 539-4336 or email me at
david@mdtriallawyers.com. If you need help with leads, I have a list of over 1,000 vendors. A well-placed call from an attorney who might use their service goes further than a call from me. It’s first and ten, so get out there and
hit somebody (up for a sponsorship). Look for updates as the contest pro- gresses and remember – have fun. Have a safe and happy holiday sea-
son. n About the Author
