A Specialist Science College

Bishop Douglass has been a Specialist Science and Maths College since September 2007. Science plays a major part in our curriculum and all students are expected to achieve at least at GCSE level. Many enrichment opportunities are available and a large number study Triple Science at both GCSE and A Level. Our links with The Royal Society and many Universities (such as Imperial College) ensure that extensions to the curriculum are always available. On entry to the school students are introduced to a link of skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths and follow the STEM project throughout years 7 and 8. This ensures a good foundation for science linked development.

Enrichment and Extension

Bishop Douglass School instils students with the ability to continue their learning outside of the classroom. We have established an ‘anytime, anywhere’ virtual learning environment that ensures students can continue with their studies using the school’s intranet system (Fronter) and continue to receive guidance and updates outside of school hours.

We offer a full range of opportunities for enrichment and extended learning. We have a range of clubs students can join as well as residential visits and sports activities which students can become involved in. Music lessons are provided for a wide range of instruments.
