Tree tribute to a ‘true countryman’

A BEAUTIFUL purple beech has been offi- cially unveiled in Headcorn in memory of for- mer KCC leader Lord Sandy Bruce-Lockhart. The ceremony was held in Parsonage Meadow, Headcorn, close to the new village hall, for which he had helped to source the funding. Parish council chairman Tim Thomas said:

“This is a fitting tribute andcommunity thank- you to a true countrymanwhonever forgot his own parishioners and his roots.” Lord Sandy, of Boy Court Farm, who was

also chairman of English Heritage and leader of the Local Government Association, died of cancer in 2008, aged 66.
