LaBute boards Christie film Neil LaBute is to direct an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Crooked House. The UK’s Brilliant Films and Germany’s Tele München Group will co-produce the project. Julian Fellowes and Tim Rose Price have adapted the screenplay. Matthew Goode, Gemma Arterton, Julie Andrews and Gabriel Byrne are set to star.
New Films marks up Score New Films International has boarded international sales rights to Score: A Hockey Musical starring Noah Reid, Allie MacDonald, Olivia Newton- John and Nelly Furtado. Michael McGowan’s rags-to- riches tale was the opening night gala at Toronto and screens in the market.
Canales outfit moves Inertia Vicente Canales’ new sales outfit Film Factory Entertainment has taken international sales rights on action movie Inertia, a feature to be directed by Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego. The film is co-written by the director and Fernando Navarro, and is backed up financially by AXN. Deals done early in the market include France (Wild Side), CIS (Carmen Film) and Australia (Vendetta).
TEMPLE ROCKS AROUND WORLD Ealing Metro International has taken on international sales for Julien Temple’s five ‘cities and music’ documentaries. The first two, Rio-set Children Of The Revolution and This Is London, will shoot this year. Berlin, Tijuana and Havana will follow. F&ME will produce the Rio film, and Rosa Bosch, London and Tijuana.
Blood runs for Indomina

Jordan sinks teeth into Number 9’s vampire pic
BY GEOFFREY MACNAB Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen’s Number 9 Films is set to have three films in production by the end of the year, including Neil Jordan’s vampire film Byzantium. Jordan will shoot the project
from a script by Moira Buffini. Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan star as a vampire mother and daughter. “It’s very close to The Company Of Wolves,” Woolley said of the film, which will take a female perspective on the vam- pire genre.

PRESCIENCE, MANDALAY IN $50M PACT UK financier Prescience will invest $50m in production financing for up to six films to be produced by Los Angeles-based Mandalay Pictures. Newly launched Ealing
Metro — the joint venture from Prescience and Ealing Studios — has an option to handle international sales on all titles. Mandalay and Prescience will greenlight and jointly finance the projects. Prescience will provide the
majority of production financing on the slate.

Bankside harvests Bahrani project
BY WENDY MITCHELL Bankside Films has taken on international sales for the untitled Ramin Bahrani project, which is being produced by Christine Vachon and Pam Koffler’s Killer Films. CAA will represent domestic. Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron
will star, with more cast to be announced soon for the summer shoot. The story is about an ambitious farmer who wants to expand his empire but is caught up in the genetically modified organisms debate. Efron plays his rebellious son.
