Course exceeded expectations. The instructor was passionate and knowledgeable and his enthusiasm was inspirational.
The course was delivered professionally and proficiently from an obviously well experienced perspective.
Delivery of the course and contents was excellent and interesting, felt involved by trainer.
Superb day, really, really great and very informative. Will help in the future.”
Encouraging as these comments are, we are careful not to become complacent and, over the quieter summer months, we will be re-examining our course
AS I write, our one-day Sports Turf Maintenance courses are in full swing, with Spring & Summer Cricket Pitch Preparation and Maintenance, Winter Sports, Bowls, and Maintenance of Artificial Sports Surfaces courses rolling out across many areas of the UK.
I am grateful to all those who answered our recent request for course venues; we had a high level of response and I have already been in touch with some people to book dates in the near future. Courses will be continuing through the coming months, so I will be following up many of the other contacts, so if you offered your club and I have not yet been in touch, please do not feel ignored!
We have attracted delegates from a variety of backgrounds, including volunteer groundsmen and greenkeepers, people just entering the profession and sportsfield contractors. Even those with considerable practical experience have found they pick up all sorts of additional hints and tips from the experienced groundsmen and sports turf professionals who deliver the courses.
The courses are accredited by Lantra Awards, who require each delegate to complete a course evaluation questionnaire covering our course organisation procedures, course content and instructors. These completed
questionnaires contribute towards Lantra Awards’ external verification and continuous monitoring process and I am delighted
to report that, since January 2010, the vast
majority of
delegates have given a score of 9 or 10 (out of a maximum 10 marks) for the overall quality of courses. In fact, since January only 3 delegates have given an overall mark of less than 9.
Typical comments from previous Sports Turf Maintenance courses include:
“Good, enjoyable day pitched at the right level; I would come back.
Best run course I’ve been on – very knowledgeable presenter and made it all relevant.
An excellent day. Covered the topics in an understandable format.
material to ensure that it gives the most up to date information and guidance.
Instructors Needed!
We are looking to recruit additional instructors to work with us and deliver our suite of turf maintenance courses. You need to be an experienced groundsman or greenkeeper, preferably with previous training or teaching experience and, ideally, evidence of Train the Trainer or other Instructional Techniques qualification.
If you think you might fit the bill, in the first instance please send your cv to me at
