OSAMU TEZUKA’S BUDDHA — THE GREAT DEPARTURE The late Osamu Tezuka is famous around the world for creating Astro Boy, but the godfather of manga and anime was also behind a wealth of literary, historical comics including the 14-volume Buddha, which won two Eisner Awards in the US. Toei Animation veteran Kozo Morishita is adapting Tezuka’s epic tome into an animated trilogy which chronicles the life of Siddhartha, from prince to the founder of Buddhism. The fi rst fi lm is unveiled at the Cannes market this year. Featuring voice work by Sayuri Yoshinaga
