INDULGENCES outrageous by jizzona straynger

mention that summer is just around the corner! That means one thing, PARTIES! March was filled with a few events I’d like to take a moment to recap. First of all,

I want to express my deepest, heartfelt sympathy to those who were directly af- fected by the tsunami in Japan. I was honored to be a part of a very special photo shoot this month aimed at brining awareness about the needs of the Japanese people and the recovery efforts going on in Japan. My new friends, Jeanie Tran and Hiro have launched a Facebook campaign with the goal of providing infor- mation on the recovery, as well as the current needs of various organizations involved in the effort. On March 11, Roma Tanaka was on Twitter and found many of his followers were unable to sleep, expressing their devastation and fears in results of the horrible disaster in Japan. One asked him to tweet anything to help get their minds off their anxieties and fears they were enduring. In an effort to alleviate some of their worries, Roma started a little venture called Project ONE. He asked his followers to post personal photos while holding their index finger up.

It would symbolize one prayer, one hope and unity; that the victims were

not alone. Since his first photo went out, he’s received hundreds from Japan and different parts of the world. To join in on this cause, you can send in your photo directly to Roma at one.romatanaka@gmail.com and follow Roma on Twitter @ tanakaROMA. March 12 marked the third annual Dean and Aldo’s Bingo Extravaganza for AIDS Lifecycle. Now if you were lame enough to miss this event, let me just tell you, you truly missed out on a grand time. They brought in over $8,000 this year! We had a fabulous open bar staffed by delicious O.C. AIDS Lifecycle bikers. We also had some amazing prizes, my favorite being the handmade blanket made by Aldo’s mother—It raked in over $200! It was such a great moment, mother and gay son for one special cause. In addition to the live bingo and silent auc- tion, we had performances by yours truly and a messy queen who showed us all it’s possible to chug a bottle of wine during one single note of a song—simply amazing! The only downside to the evening was the car ride home. Someone in the vehicle, not mentioning any names, wasn’t able to keep control of her blad- der. Let me just say, it was amazing defiling the backseat of a BMW, especially the backseat of Aunt Phyllis’. On the podcast front, I’ve moved on from BabbleOnPodcast—it’s true. Have

ADVENTURES JIZZONA STRAYNGER’S Spring is in the air and I’m feeling as fresh as a session with Summer’s Eve!

This year is moving right along and with all the transitions in my life—some of which we will get to a little later—I have discovered a little downtime is essential when dealing with stress that life throws at us. My “day job” has me constantly on the go, so finding “me time” to decompress has become a priority for me. I’m no spring chicken and all this hopping around from time zone to time zone has really been taking it out of me. I’m learning that slowing down and taking a timeout for myself is just as important, if not more, than trying to make the usual rounds. A little rest and relaxation goes along way to recharge the system and in the long run, provides the endurance needed to make it through . . . not to

no fear, I’m still flappin’ my lady lips and broadcasting via TheQueerFactor.com. The Queer Factor provides we gays with current events, news of the week, and of course a lot of dirty dishin’! We’ve got some amazing interviews lined up, includ- ing cast members from RuPaul’s Drag Race, local and national politicians, and our very first interview, Miss. Alexis Arquette! The Queer Factor is aimed at providing relevant stories for the modern gay. The show brings a lot of controversial topics and opinions to the table, to provoke thought through comedy and shock value. You can also be a part of the show by calling in with your own two cents at 765.35. QUEER. As we all know April showers bring out those May flowers, so it’s time to get out

to the garden and start hoin’ around, if you know what I mean. We’ve got some great events this month: To find out what all the cool kids are going to be doing, flip on through the magazine and take a look at our monthly events calendar.
