As he continues to serve as CFO, Phil
Horlock is now also president of Blue Bird Corporation, having succeeded Greg Ben- nett in November. In addition to being the company’s CFO, Horlock previously served as chief administrative officer. He is about to enter his second full year at the school bus manufacturer after more than 30 years at Ford Motor Company, where Horlock held a number of executive po- sitions in global finance and operations, including CFO of Ford Asia-Pacifica and Africa and most recently as chairman and CEO of Ford Land. Anna Borges succeeded John Green
as the supervisor of the Office of School Transportation at the California Depart- ment of Education (CDE). Green retired in December. Previously Borges was a bus driver training program specialist for CDE. Prior to that she worked for school bus contractor Student Transportation of America, where she rose the ranks from school bus driver to director of safety and training for both the East and West coasts.
David Hobson joined NSTA last month
as the association’s first executive direc- tor since 2004. Hobson previously was the president and CEO of the Uniform and Textile Service Association, during which time UTSA’s membership grew as he
helped to guide the association through many regulatory challenges presented by the EPA, IRS and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Hobson also has experience in utility and public finance as a partner at Smith Bucklin, one of the world’s largest association management firms. He has more than 25 years of lobby- ing and grant writing experience.
SynTec Seating Solutions named Rick
Smith the new OEM marketing man- ager for the M2K Seating System product family. Smith has more than 25 years of experience in the school bus industry at Tomas Built Buses and National Express. He will assist in introducing the new M2K seat lap/shoulder belt school bus seat.
