When jewellery keeps a secret hideaway – the new Richard Duhn collection The international award-winning goldsmith Richard Duhn from Nordhorn presents his new collection under the brand name hideaway at Inhorgenta. He uses the international trade forum to introduce his new brand name for exclusive, limited series of rings and necklaces to jewellers looking to revitalise their product line with up-to-date innovations. The jeweller from Germany’s unknown north offers a persuasive description for the name “hideaway”, or secret place. Duhn often draws new inspiration for his use of form from primeval landscape with its special reflected light effects.


Limited forms and natural colours Duhn relies on elemental forms such as the circle and hemisphere. They symbolise unity, the absolute, perfection and therefore the godly. “The ring and the round amulet have always been asso- ciated with magical and protective functions”, Duhn describes his creative concept. He applies his inspiration consistently to the hideaway collection. The precious metal band holds a ring head in which a gemstone such as aquamarine, quartz, moonstone or amethyst en cabochon is embedded in a bezel setting. He places a brilliant cut diamond under each gemstone. The jewel only reveals its secret at a second look. The sparkling of the diamond takes on a new, mystical luminescence through the gemstone.


International markets in view Alongside German-speaking and European markets, Russia and the Gulf States are to be targeted. “The new opulence demands a clear design. I allow the material to speak. The cool elegance of precious metals, the brilliance of diamonds and the intensive play of colour in the gemstones signalise understatement at the highest level”. Small batches and unique copies can be made exclusively by arrangement.
