From Our Founder

Remembering February 1977.

ers and advertisers. Some are still with us from our very first issue, way back in July 1970. I have to say that is loyalty of the fore- most magnitude. A BIG THANK YOU and a TIP of the OLD STETSON. By the way mine is real and not a cheap copy from China.

We do not have a copy of The Rider for February 1977, so I will do some long over- due griping instead. The loss of this edition may be that the post office were on strike.

As you know way back in 1977 the per- sonal computer or internet was not yet invent- ed. The post office had us by the shorts. No more though. We can still get our customers’ time sensitive ads out along with important industry news through our website (soon to be updated). You will still be able to get therid- er.com and get a copy of that story on Johnny or Susan’s big gymkhana win.

Ontario Combined Driving Association

As you know The Rider has had tons of editorial ink devoted to your kids and family

I must recog- nize our loyal read-

over almost 42 years (with the same owners). Editorial something that is not available in the free ad sheets, there you will see nothing.... absolutely nothing for the family scrap books. Our policy has and will be news about the rider and their steeds.

Perhaps one day the only way to get The Rider will be from www.therider.com . For now though we are still committed to our print edition. In fact, 2010 was one our most suc- cessful years and 2011 is looking good already.

Anyway, March 1977 was a very auspi- cious month in the history of The Rider. That month we stopped publishing our tabloid newspaper in favour of a magazine format. We changed back in 1984 and have remained a tabloid ever since.

Rider.

See you next month with the March 1977 That’s 30 for now.

The organization’s mission is to act like a “chamber of commerce” and to assist members in marketing and promoting their products and services.
