These supplemental joists hangers are mechanically attached to the beamon both sides of the joists and the joists rest on the hang- ers inboard of the damaged area. The damaged area can be inject- ed with epoxy resin for durability issues and the hangers address the structural concerns. The key to success when tackling a repair project resulting

from a sun camber is hiring a specialty repair contractor that is experienced and diversified enough to implement the repair strat- egy that is best for the project. Understanding what causes sun camber and what to look for will help identify problems early on and result in the correct repair of the cause, not just treatment of the effect. In many cases spalled concrete is simply repaired and eventually spalls again because the camber issue was not addressed in the repair. If you have a garage constructed with a pre-stressed joist

system and observe any concrete deterioration in the area where the joists are connected to the beam, contact a structural engineer or competent repair contractor and ask for their opinion. The sooner the problem is addressed, the less damage will occur, and it will not become a safety issue.

CVPS and Federal APD TeamUp

Federal APD (FAPD) and Service Tracking Systems

(STS), the parent company of Computerized Valet Parking Systems (CVPS), have entered into a strategic alliance to market and sell each other’s products. FAPD and its distributors will now be able to offer the

industry’s leading valet parking technology solutions, includ- ing CVPS’s premier patent-protected vehicle imaging tech- nology solution. In turn, STS will incorporate FAPD’s com- prehensive line of parking control systems. “While STS and FAPD gain a competitive market

advantage by being able to offer a more complete line of products, our clients win by having easy access to integrated turnkey solutions supported by a single point of contact” said Kai Schuette, STS Founder and CEO. Cutting edge technology upgrades are also in the works.

Both Federal APD and CVPS are presently in the process of bringing a host of new products and technologies to market. “The timing could not be any better, as we are able to

leverage our talented development resources to create pow- erful solutions to help our clients build revenue and decrease costs,” said Bob Kane, Director of Market Development for Federal Signal Corp.
