Parkway Unit Finalizes Purchase of Philly Residential Tower
Parkway Commercial Properties, the real estate armof Parkway Corp.,
has completed the purchase of the 11-story, 40-unitAmerican Loft building in the Center City Philadelphia neighborhood of Northern Liberties. It was completed two years ago by another developer, who marketed it
for luxury condominiumliving but ran into difficulty as a result of the reces- sion. Parkway will convert the loft-style building into rentals, with sweep- ing views from decks overlooking the Delaware River on the east and the Center City skyline on the west. Rising 119 feet above NorthAmerican Street,American Loft is now
positioned as “one of the premier apartment towers in Northern Liberties,” the company says. Buying the building at this time, it adds, “coincides with the approximately billion dollars’worth of retail, entertainment and casino investment taking place only blocks away.” The family-owned Parkway Corp., best known for being an industry
leader in parking management and development, says it also has a growing reputation for successfully completing residential developments, including most recently 1706 Rittenhouse Square Street in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. Supporting Parkway in the acquisition, a press release says, areAbing-
ton Bank, which supplied the financing, and the Conway Team from Pru- dentialRealtors, which has started renting one, two and three-bedroomunits in the building.
