School Transportation News congratulates

Dan Higbie from Mid-City Transit Corp., in Middletown, N.Y., for winning an all-expens- es-paid trip to the 2011 STN EXPO while visiting the STN booth at the NAPT Summit

during a contest that tested the ability of attendees to complete an STN EXPO- themed puzzle in the fastest time. Tough Higbie was not the fastest person to com- plete his puzzle, he did hold the record for nearly 20 minutes. Still, he was en- tered into a drawing for the grand prize of round-trip airfare, room nights at the Grand Sierra Resort, the site of the 18th STN EXPO in Reno, Nev., plus full confer- ence registration and $100 spending cash. Higbie’s lucky raffle ticket was selected the same day he competed, Nov. 1. For Higbie, who is also the president

of his local chapter of the New York As- sociation for Pupil Transportation, the prize gives him the opportunity to attend the STN EXPO for the very first time. Hig- bie has worked for Mid-City for six years

as a terminal manager and said he is al- ways looking to expand his knowledge. Mid-City transports approximately 8,000 students one-way daily and operates a fleet of 140 vehicles. Te theme for the 2011 STN EXPO,

which will be held July 23-27, is “Putting the Pieces Together” and will focus on ways to increase efficiencies to maximize operations. Over the course of the five- day conference, attendees will be given the tools necessary to go back to their compa- nies and school districts well-equipped to handle challenges they are sure to face on a daily basis.
