enjoyable though, especially as I used to go to so many shows as a kid. I was on the other side of the fence so to speak.”

Last year, Chris was appointed as the Team’s on-the-road documents controller where he had to keep all the paperwork up-to-date, monitoring each aircraft’s flying hours and fatigues. He said: “This was a massive challenge as I’m dyslexic. I really thought I was going to struggle. However, the Team made me believe that I could do it… and I did.”

His extensive experience on the Squadron has led Chris to be selected as one of the ‘Circus’ for the 2010 season. He is one of just ten engineers who are chosen to fly in the back seat of the Hawk to display locations to service the aircraft, ready for the displays. He will spend every weekend from May to October away from home flying with Red 5 – Flight Lieutenant Zane Sennett. Chris said: “Being selected for Circus is the job I’ve always wanted. When it was announced I called my dad and my friend Neil Parker straight away. I was an Air Cadet with Neil twenty years ago, we are still best friends and I was best man at his wedding. They were both really

Now busy getting ready for the season ahead with emergency drill training and refreshing his knowledge of working on the

line, Chris is looking forward to the coming months. He said: “It will be great to see the country from a different perspective, flying in the back of a Red Arrows jet!”
