Question 11 a) If you draw a line of best fit through the points you would see that the line slopes downwards from left to right so shows negative correlation. This means that as the speed increases the time reduces.


b)


If we find the time 11 seconds then draw a vertical line (red dashed) until it meets the line of best fit then draw a horizontal line (red dashed)from the line of best fit to the y axis we can see that this meets at 121. The estimated maximum speed for a car that takes 11 seconds is 121 mph.


Question 12


a) To find the perimeter we need to add up the lengths of all the sides. So we have 2x + 9 + 2x – 3 + 4x + 5 We can simplify this by grouping terms 8x + 11


b) if we know the perimeter is 39 then 8x + 11 = 39 subtract 11 from both sides 8x = 28 divide both sides by 8 x = 28 ÷ 8 = 3.5 cm
