New and used machine tool supplier, Mid-Bucks Machine Tools has announced its cooperation with Taiwan- based Cyclematic Machinery to market its range of conventional and CNC toolroom lathes under the Linear brand in the UK and European markets. Cyclematic Machinery has been building competitively priced, high precision lathes since 1980.

There are eight models in the range which includes small second operation lathes which are aimed to support main CNC machines by offering a simple solution to back face operations. As well as the toolroom environment, the machines are said to be well suited to all low volume and prototype high precision turning operations found across a wide range of industry sectors.

Because of their ergonomics and precise operation the machines are expected to be well received in engineering educational establishments and those organisations with space restrictions will be satisfied by the CNC

derivatives which can offer full CNC working with a choice of centre turning or gang style tooling on the same machine in a small working footprint. The conventional layout and

AMB 2010 on the road to success

AMB, the international exhibition for metalworking, will be taking place from 28th

September to 2nd October 2010 at Messe Stuttgart directly beside Stuttgart Airport.

The event is a window to the world of machine tools in Germany and after EMO, is ranked second in the list of German specialist industry trade fairs.

innovative guarding make the CT-1118CNC an ideal CNC learning centre, according to the manufacturer.

All machines destined for the UK and European market are CE certified to current legislation, have a

comprehensive 12 month parts and labour warranty. Mid Bucks Machine Tools has also developed tailored finance solutions, service contracts and extended warranty options for the UK market.

Cyclematic Machinery claims the CTL618e high precision toolroom lathe has a guaranteed working circular accuracy of 0.000125mm and also benefits from the addition

of digital threading. The electronically controlled servo- driven arrangement removes the traditional change wheel and gearbox from the threading process, providing quick and easy threading solutions, and, with no driven gear mechanism vibration is decreased and surface finish improved.

A full range of accessories is also available.

Aerospace inroads

Seco Tools has acquired 100% of the shares in AOB, a French manufacturer of PCD (Poly Crystalline Diamond) cutting tools.

AOB, based in Mortagne-sur- Sevre near Nantes, France, is one of the leading suppliers of PCD tools to the aerospace, automotive and woodworking

industries and has special expertise and experience in the machining of composite materials (CFRP). AOB has annual revenues of approximately €4 million and around 50 employees. “We are delighted at the opportunity to advance our position in the strategically

Second coming

Following its successful first CAM day, Delcam will host a second series of free workshops on the latest developments in

manufacturing technology at its Birmingham headquarters on Wednesday 22nd September 2010.

The day will again feature sessions on 5-axis machining, feature-based programming, integrated CAM for SolidWorks and software for metrology. Each presentation will be repeated at various times during the day, giving all delegates the opportunity to customise their itinerary.

“Our initial CAM day was well received, especially by some new prospects that we met at the MACH exhibition who were keen to find out more about our company and our range of machining software,” explained Delcam’s marketing manager, Peter Dickin. “However, we had

AMB is traditionally very well attended and this year will be no exception. By the time the trade fair starts in September, there will be around 1,200 exhibitors and approximately 20 represented companies taking part. Every fifth exhibitor will be coming from outside Germany and to date there are 26 countries registered. All nine trade fairs halls look set to be fully occupied and more than 75,000 visitors are expected to attend, representing 60 countries. From a business viewpoint, AMB is supported by the precision tools and software sectors of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), as well as the German Machine Tool Builders' Association (VDW).

The AMB exhibition itself will be primarily focusing on metalcutting technology and will encompass machine tools, physico-chemical machine tools and precision tools. Exhibitors will also be showcasing innovative products and developments in metrology, robotics, software, tooling and workholding, automation as well as component parts and accessories.

Logical hall layout will make navigation simple: halls 1 and 2 will house precision tools; hall 4 will showcase software and engineering, control systems and additional equipment; hall 6 will cover sawing, drilling and gear cutting machines; hall 8 will be displaying grinding and deburring machines; while halls 3, 5, 7 and 9 will be

presenting lathes, milling machines and machining centres.

In addition to the wealth of technological innovation on display, AMB will also be offering an accompanying programme of events in collaboration with renowned associations, research institutes and universities. For the visitor, this programme will provide solutions to many everyday production issues and will focus on productivity and more efficient

manufacturing methods. The programme will also provide advice and guidance for individuals looking to embark on a career in manufacturing and engineering.
