North Ashevile Baptist to add Saturday service

is starting a new service to alleviate the burden that sometimes comes with trying to get to church and the grocery store and fixing a big dinner every Sunday. Te Woodfin-based church will begin its EDGE Saturday Evening
Worship at 6:30 pm on June 12. Pastor Jim Dykes said 250 mem-
bers have already committed to the Saturday service. It will be a duplicate of the Sun-
day morning service. By calling it the EDGE service,
the church is referencing Satur- day being on the edge of Sunday, Dykes said. Te new offering is part of the
Home, garden tour Te Mars Hill Woman’s Club is sponsoring an exciting home and
garden tour from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday (June 5) with all pro- ceeds to benefit the new Mars Hill Town Library. Two gardens and three homes will be open for tours, including the historic Moore House on Bailey Street that was designed by the firm of Richard Sharp Smith. Advance tickets are $15 and are available from any Woman’s Club member and are also available at the Mars Hill Visitors’ Center. Checks are only accepted at the visitor’s center. Maps will be avail- able there and at the various locations. On-site tickets will be $20. Contact co-presidents Connie Kramer (689-4269) or Brenda Russell (689-4793) for information.

has been on Reynolds Mountain Boulevard for the past 15 years. Dykes is in his 21st year with the church.
Community workshop
Te Big Ivy Community Club
will sponsor a community work- shop from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm on Saturday (June 5) at the Big Ivy Community Center at 540 Dilling- ham Road in Barnardsville. Partici- pants to the community workshop will have an opportunity to discuss and share ideas about the area’s farmlands, recreational offerings, economic and sustainability issues. Rummage sale A rummage sale will be held beginning at 7 am and continuing
until 1 pm on Saturday (June 5) at the Hillside Community Center in Weaverville. Proceeds garnered from the sale will go toward benefit- ting Little Mt. Zion Church. A wide variety of items will be available to purchase. Te Hillside Community Center is located on Hillside Street in
Weaverville, off South Main Street near the Weaverville Elementary School.
