Brush fire pops up
Woodfin firefighters quickly extinguished a small brush fire covering about 1/4 acre Monday morning (April 5) near the Reynolds Village development. No structures were threatened by the brief burst. Brush fires have been an issue for many Western North Carolina firefighters in the recent weeks. The North Carolina Forest Service reported 203 wildfires throughout the state in the first four days of April.

Weaverville will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday (April 10) with a drop-in reception at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Weaverville from 2 pm. until 4 pm. Te Rays were married on
April 3, 1960, at the home of the Rev. Clell and Louise Fisher in Marshall. Barbara Ray is the former
Barbara Maxwell from Mar- shall. Wendell Ray has worked
most of his life as a carpenter and retired from Builders Ex- press after 16 years. Barbara

retired from Reliance Electric / Rockwell Automation after 22 years. Tey enjoy worshipping with their church family, camp- ing, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Tey have three children:
Victor Ray and wife Wendy of Yorktown, Va.; Wendy English and husband Rick of Weaverville; and Danny Ray of Weaverville. Tey also have two granddaughters, Jenny and Lynn. All friends and relatives are
invited to attend the reception. No gifts are required.
